I started my working life as an apprentice electrician in 1976 with E.J Stiell, a Lanarkshire engineering business. I progressed through the ranks and in 1995, I became Managing Director of the company, and led an MBO.
Over the next seven years, I led the transformation of the business into Stiell Facilities, the leading independent facilities management business in the UK. By 2002, Stiell had sales of over £120m and employed around 1,200 people.
At this point, Stiell was acquired by Alfred McAlpine and I became managing director of their business services division, transforming it into a £300m operation with 2500 employees. I left McAlpine in 2005 to return to the private company sector, and joined ASCO in 2006.
At ASCO, I am focused on developing the company’s position as the world’s leading oil and gas logistics provider to ensure that we continue to be able to deliver more to our clients.
